 DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement


may be attributed to John P. King, Parts and Service Engineering Office manager, Ford Parts and Service Division:
 Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is voluntarily recalling about 43,500 1992 model Escort and Tracer vehicles to inspect, and possibly replace the brake light switches. About 7,000 of these vehicles are equipped with switches that may become fully or intermittently inoperative. If this occurs, the brake lights will not illuminate when the brakes are applied.
 Owners will be notified by mail and asked to return the vehicles to their dealers for inspection, and possible replacement of the switches.
