FORD ANNOUNCES SERVICE ACTION

                     FORD ANNOUNCES SERVICE ACTION
DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement may

be attributed to John P. King, parts and service engineering office manager, Ford Parts and Service Division:
Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is voluntarily providing owners of 1988-89 Tempo and Topaz vehicles with extended warranty coverage on the fuel pumps. The new coverage consists of 5 years, 50,000 miles from the original warranty start date, or through Aug. 31, 1992, whichever provides greater coverage.
It is possible that an internal seal on the fuel pump may wear prematurely. This could cause difficulty in restarting a warm engine, or excessive fuel pump noise.
Owners who have had the fuel pumps repaired or replaced will be reimbursed.
The company will contact owners by mail to notify them of the action.
