FORD AND CITIBANK VISA AND MASTERCARD LAUNCH MARKETING CAMPAIGN TO INTRODUCE NEW CARD

New Campaign Promises a Better Alternative for New Car Purchases
NEW YORK, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) and Citibank VISA and MasterCard introduced today their new advertising/ marketing campaign, "It's a Better Idea," to launch their affinity card -- the Ford Citibank VISA and MasterCard. Now the maker of America's best-selling cars and best-selling trucks and America's leading bankcard issuer offer America's best way to save on a new vehicle.
The advertising campaign will start today and run through July with television, radio and print advertising created by J. Walter Thompson, Chicago. The television campaign focuses on the benefits of being a cardmember, and will appear on national and cable networks at various times including prime time.
Three 30-second commercials will highlight regular card use and how, without altering spending, a Ford Citibank cardmember can earn up to $700 a year toward the purchase or lease of a new vehicle.
Print advertisements, which will begin appearing Friday in national daily newspapers, will detail the benefits received by Ford Citibank cardmembers and the card's superiority over other credit-card rebate programs. "It's a Better Idea" print ads also will appear in news weeklies and select consumer publications in March.
More than 5,000 Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealers will promote the advantages of the Ford rebate program to new vehicle owners. A mailing will be sent to current Citibank customers, current Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicle owners, and potential new car buyers.
