FORD/PELE COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED FOR GEORGIA STUDENTS

ATLANTA, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten $1,000 Ford/Pele college scholarships are waiting for college-bound Georgia students -- with applications due by May 15.
The Ford/Pele program, now in its seventh year, makes scholarships available to high school graduates who wish to start college and college students continuing their education.
Begun in cooperation with world soccer legend Pele, the Ford Motor Company program evaluates applicants on the basis of athletic, extracurricular and academic achievement, as well as community involvement. Interested persons should call the Georgia State Soccer Association (GSSA) at 404-452-0505 to request an application.
"The program is a small but important one which has helped more than 60 outstanding young people in Georgia attend college," said John Roberts, director of Public Affairs for Ford's North American Automotive Operations.
The Ford/Pele scholarship program is administered by GSSA and sponsored by Ford and Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealers of Georgia.
"Our partnership with Ford is a great one that benefits deserving college-bound soccer athletes across Georgia," said Deborah Hackman, GSSA executive director.
"We receive inquiries about the scholarship program daily, but we want to make sure all potential candidates are aware of this great opportunity to reward their athletic, educational and community service achievements."
