 FORD, UAW EXECUTIVES HOLD NEWS CONFERENCE TODAY
 TO ANNOUNCE NEW PRODUCTS AND NEW INVESTMENTS
 WHAT: A news conference to announce new products and new investments at two Ford plants in Washtenaw County.
 WHY: In hard-fought competition with Japanese suppliers, employees at Ford's Ypsilanti and Rawsonville components plants won key contracts that will save more than 560 jobs and create 25 new ones.
 WHO: Bud Marx, Ford vice president - Automotive Components Group and Ernie Lofton, UAW vice president - director of National Ford Department.
 WHEN: 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, Feb. 19.
 WHERE: Ypsilanti Plant, Ypsilanti, Mich.
 DIRECTIONS: Take I-94 to the Huron Street Exit (Milepost 183), make right turns to follow the plant property around to plant entrance which faces I-94.
 PROGRAM INFORMATION
 -- Marx and Lofton will congratulate employees for their participation in a "no-holds-barred" effort to win the business through improvements in work practices, manufacturing processes and maintenance. The process is a Ford model for addressing competitiveness, lowering costs and enhancing employee and supplier understanding and participation in the business development process.
 -- One-on-one interviews with plant and UAW officials and the approximately 100 Ypsilanti employees whose jobs could have been lost if the contracts had not been won. Engineering personnel also will be on hand to describe the product.
 -- A quick plant tour to see the manufacturing process. Cameras welcome.
