FOR THE ELDER AT THE VELVET LOUNGE.

 That's a wicked Afro, Lady
Beet red, puffed up and lopsided
Shading your face
Bobbing slightly as the saxophone soothes
You lean back and listen with your eyes closed
Titties sitting on your belly
Unashamed to rest after years of bondage
Strapped up by Playtex and the Hourglass Mafia
Your hair shimmies in the light
Looking like a nappy visor
You are no retro throwback
I bet you never stopped wearing that fro
All these years
Keeping Black beautiful
