FOR HISPANIC AUDIENCES THROUGHOUT THE NATION, WORLD CUP SOCCER IS A REAL 'KICK'

 NEW YORK, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- For a majority of Hispanics, the most important sporting event in the world comes only once every four years: The World Cup. Soccer is indisputably a Hispanic pastime and as the number-one Spanish-language television network for soccer sports action, Hispanics will be tuned to Univision for the most extensive World Cup coverage available in the U.S.
 The World Cup, and indeed the sport of soccer, has a long tradition among Hispanics. The game of soccer was organized throughout Latin America nearly three generations ago with the establishment of CONMEBOL (the South American confederation). Professional leagues flourish in nearly every Latin country, and the national teams from this region account for nearly half of the World Cup champions in existence.
 Latin America is the birthplace of stars who are to soccer what Ruth, DiMaggio, Musial, Williams and Mantle are to America's pastime. Names like Cubillas, Di Stefano, Garrincha and Pele stand out in the mind not only of Hispanics, but among individuals throughout the world.
 Since 1970, Univision has been covering World Cup soccer for Hispanic audiences throughout the United States. In 1990, the network featured the most successful World Cup in history in terms of viewer and advertiser support, by being the only broadcast network in the U.S. to cover these important games.
 In 1994, Univision's World Cup coverage will consist of the entire 52-game series. In addition, the network will feature World Cup preview segments within its regular news and sports programs, Domingo Deportivo Budweiser, Noticias y Mas, and Noticiero Univision (nighttime edition), as well as a series of 60-second, prime time World Cup moments and specials beginning in January of next year.
 Leading the way in Univision's extensive coverage of sporting events are the network's experienced team of sportscasters, comprised of veteran anchors Norberto Longo, Andres Cantor and Jessi Losada.
