FOR EYES OPTICAL EYE LAB SERVICES 1,000+ PEOPLE IN WEEK
FOLLOWING HURRICANE, PROVIDING FREE GLASSES FOR VICTIMS
MIAMI, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Over 1,000 Hurricane Andrew victims in South Dade County, Florida with eye problems, broken frames, glasses needing adjustments, and contact lens problems took advantage of the For Eyes Optical Emergency Eye Lab in Homestead. The lab was stationed in the heart of the disaster area for 10 days following the storm. For Eyes Optical furnished a crew of 12 technicians and doctors of Optometry who staffed the lab from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
All services provided by For Eyes Optical were free of charge. The resources and staff of the 90-store national chain were drawn from the company's retail outlets across the U.S. The Hialeah-based firm plans to continue serving the disaster area, according to president Philip Wolman and partner Bob Messa -- both of whom worked on site.
For Eyes Optical, with headquarters in Hialeah, Fla. for 20 years, has 90 retail outlets around the United States (seven in South Florida).
