 FOOTE, CONE & BELDING FORMS JOINT VENTURE IN QUEBEC;
 AUGER BABEUX/FCB ENHANCES MONTREAL PRESENCE
 CHICAGO, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Foote, Cone & Belding Communications, Inc. (NYSE: FCB) today announced that it has formed a joint venture with Auger Babeux in Montreal, a growing creative force in Canada's French-speaking market. FCB's existing Montreal operation will be merged with Auger Babeux and renamed Auger Babeux/FCB. The unit will be located in FCB's current offices. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
 Auger Babeux was founded in 1986 and was previously affiliated with McKim, the Canadian subsidiary of BBDO. The agency is headed by partners Paul Auger and Serge Babeux, creative executives with strong reputations, and Robert Valois, one of Quebec's most respected account managers. The new Auger Babeux/FCB will rank among the 10 largest agencies in Montreal.
 Major clients of the new joint venture include Molson Breweries; Mazda Montreal Dealers Association; Cosmair Canada, a division of L'Oreal; Canada Trust; Pizza Hut; Metro Richelieu, a premier Quebec food retailer; Granada, an appliance company; and the Italian Trade Delegation, among others.
 Bruce Mason, chairman and chief executive officer of FCB Communications, Inc., said, "Our extensive review of the Montreal market led us to align with Auger Babeux, an accomplished agency that will enhance our presence in the dynamic Quebec province and expand the Francophone marketing capabilities we provide to clients throughout Canada." He continued, "We felt strong French-Canadian leadership in this market was essential and Auger Babeux will fill this important need."
 In making the announcement, Paul Auger said, "Our new venture with Foote, Cone & Belding will enlarge our new business opportunities and allow us to draw on the resources of one of the finest global advertising networks while maintaining our identity and autonomy."
