FOOTBALL EXTRA: Foster's warning to Fergie.

BEN FOSTER has warned Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson that he won't allow his career to stagnate on the bench at Old Trafford next season.

Watford's on-loan keeper looks certain to win his first international cap next month against Spain.

But he fears his England prospects would nosedive if he was forced to twiddle his thumbs as Edwin van der Sar's understudy.

Foster said: "I've played regular first-team football ever since I came to Watford - and I don't really want to give that up.

"It would be very difficult to go back to being on the bench, that would be a massive blow for me.

"The last couple of years have been brilliant because I've got used to playing week in, week out and I love it.

"I'm ambitious, I want to achieve things and I want to be the No.1 goalkeeper wherever I am.

"I've made the breakthrough into the England squad, which is brilliant, and that's come from playing games every week."
