FOOTBALL : JOKER JOHN HAS THE LAST LAUGH; NORWAY 2 DENMARK 2.

JOHN CAREW scrambled a crucial point for Norway when he grabbed an equaliser in the last seconds - then insisted he didn't want to be the joker in the team's pack.

Carew went on as a 77th minute substitute to stun the Danes who had twice been in the lead in the Group Two clash with their Scandinavian rivals in Oslo.

The striker said: "It was such a gret feeling to see that ball go in. I guess I became the joker in the pack although it is a role I'd rather be without.

"I've scored seven goals in 12 games for Norway and I want to be a starter. This is the first time I haven't started."

The Danes took a 23rd minute lead through Jon Dahl Tomasson. John Arne Riise hit the post in the 52nd minute but levelled two minutes later.

Tomasson made it 2-1 in 71 minutes only to see Carew rescue Norway.
