FOOTBALL: Petrie: No one has bid for de la Cruz.
HIBS last night denied any moves have been made for their World Cup star Ulises de la Cruz.
The Ecuadorian wing-back was reported to have said on South American radio he was poised to join Aston Villa.
He said: "The economic offer they have made suits me so I have told them I agree with it. Now what I expect is to get permission from Hibernian to have the chance to sign an agreement with Aston Villa."
Hibs managing director Rod Petrie, however, said: "It's speculation and I don't listen to South American radio. The fact is Ulises has been linked with a number of clubs."
Villa boss Graham Taylor played down the claims of de la Cruz, who cost Hibs pounds 750,000 from Deportivo Universatario.
He said: "I knew all about Ulises de la Cruz before the World Cup but that's as far as it goes at the moment."
Former Clydebank boss Steven Morrison has been appointed No.2 to East Stirling's Danny Diver.
The 41-year-old had been previously playing for junior outfit Dunipace and welcomes a chance to get back into the senior game.
