FOOTBALL: Great Danes hit Gunners.

ARSENAL are through to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women's Cup, despite losing 1-0 to Brondby in the final game of their second round tournament in Denmark yesterday.

The Gunners had previously beaten Polish champions Wroclaw 3-1 and Russian outfit Toliatti 1-0 to ensure themselves of a top two finish in the four-team group.

But they then went into their game against the host club minus England colleagues Kelly Smith and Faye White.

Star striker Smith was suspended after being sent off against Toliatti, and in the same match captain White suffered a broken nose.

Brondby's win yesterday meant they finished top of the group, but second place was enough to guarantee Arsenal a place in the last eight for the fourth time in five seasons.
