FOOTBALL: CELTS WON'T STUTT-ER; Berti's backing Bhoys to beat Germans and set up Battle of Britain.

SCOTLAND boss Berti Vogts last night insisted Celtic have received an early Christmas gift by drawing VfB Stuttgart in the UEFA Cup.

Vogts believes the inexperienced German side do not have the bottle to survive a 60,000 first leg sell- out at Parkhead - and could collapse completely before the tie is even halfway through. Scotland's champions were paired with the Bundesliga outfit in yesterday's fourth-round draw.

And former Bayer Leverkusen manager Vogts insists Celtic are

clear favourites to make it into the last eight - where they could face the mouthwatering prospect of a Battle of Britain II against Liverpool.

Vogts said: "It is a great, great draw for Celtic.

"First of all, they will make big money from German TV but more importantly, this is a tie I am sure they will win.

"Stuttgart have a very young team and they will find this difficult - especially the first match at Celtic Park. When they run out in front of these supporters they will not know how to cope.

"They will be scared by the atmosphere and I really think Celtic are the big favourites. I think it is very clear - Celtic will go into the next round.

"It's the perfect draw for Celtic - like a Christmas present."

Vogts will come up against Stuttgart's most highly-rated prospect - striker Kevin Kuranyi with nine goals in 14 games - on Tuesday, when his `future' Scotland side face a B international test in Meinz.
