FOOD LION TESTING NEW MEAT DEPARTMENT DOOR

SALISBURY, N.C., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Food Lion (NASDAQ-NMS: FDLN) is testing a new meat department door in two of its Salisbury, N.C. stores. The doors have a larger window, allowing customers to see meat preparation at the store.
Also, Food Lion has incorporated a meat department window into its new store design. Stores built according to this new design will include the window.
Whether or not the company will retro-fit existing stores with the new door will depend on customer reaction to the change and the costs involved.
An earlier AP report gave the impression that the company was currently converting all stores to the new door design.
