FLUTE WINS OAKS.

Byline: Daily News

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Flute rewarded trainer Bobby Frankel's confidence by beating 12 more experienced 3-year-old fillies in the $500,000 Kentucky Oaks in front of 102,904 fans Friday at Churchill Downs.

Flute, a Seattle Slew filly whose second-place finish to Golden Ballet in the Santa Anita Oaks came in only her third career start, rallied with jockey Jerry Bailey to beat Real Cozzy by 2 3/4 lengths and paid $8.60. Collect Call, the other Californian in the field, finished third at 40-1 odds. Favored Fleet Renee was fourth.
