FLUOR DANIEL ENGINEERS CHALLENGE STUDENTS TO DISCOVER 'E' IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Fluor Daniel will join thousands of engineers across the country in an annual student outreach program called Discover "E." The "E" stands for engineering and engineers will be visiting elementary, junior and senior high school classrooms. Discover "E" is part of National Engineers Week, Feb. 16-22. Student activities are scheduled for Feb. 10-20 in Costa Mesa, El Toro, Mission Viejo, Newport Beach, Orange, Irvine, Santa Ana and Tustin. "Our goal," says engineer Austin Turk, chairman of the local event, "is to show children how science, math and engineering relate to the world around them and why they are important." Engineers will be talking with students about how engineers have helped conquer frontiers on land, at sea, in space and even in medicine and other fields. The Discover "E" program is one of the largest student outreach efforts the engineering profession has ever sponsored, according to the National Society of Professional Engineers. Some 20,000 engineers nationwide will reach about 2 million students and teachers through their participation in the program. National Engineers Week 1992 is led by Honorary Chairman Jack D.
