FLUOR DANIEL AWARDED CONTRACT BY TU ELECTRIC IRVINE, Calif., July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Fluor Daniel announced
today that it has been awarded a contract by TU Electric, the principal subsidiary of Dallas-based Texas Utilities Co. (NYSE: TXU). The value of the contract was not disclosed.
Fluor Daniel's Power Sector will engineer, design, procure, install, test and support certification of equipment and processes for a continuous emissions monitoring system at TU Electric's fossil generating stations. Sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide and other parameters will be monitored as required by the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments. Project engineering and design are under way in Fluor Daniel's Chicago operations center. TU Electric operates 23 fossil-fueled generating stations, including 19 generating stations fueled by natural gas and oil, and four coal-fired stations. Certification of the system is scheduled to begin in early 1993 and continue through late 1994. TU Electric is engaged in the generation, purchase, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity. It provides electricity to more than 5 million people -- almost one-third of the Texas population -- within a service area stretching some 600 miles from West Texas to Louisiana and some 250 miles from central Texas to Oklahoma.
