 FLUOR CORP. RECEIVES ENGINEERING AWARDS
 IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Fluor Corp. (NYSE: FLR) and


its principal subsidiary, Fluor Daniel, will receive six of the 15 awards presented at the Orange County Engineering Council's annual banquet at the Grand Hotel in Anaheim on Saturday, Feb. 22.
 Fluor Daniel employees Frank Landon, manager of engineering for the Advanced Technology Division, and Mehmet A. Tan, technical director of civil and structural engineering, will each receive the Outstanding Engineer Merit Award. The award recognizes individuals for significant contributions and outstanding achievements in the engineering profession.
 Fluor Daniel will also receive three out of the four Project Achievement Awards given this year for projects that demonstrated originality, engineering creativity and contributed to human achievement. The three projects Fluor Daniel is being recognized for are:
 -- The new Command and Control Facility and 911 emergency
 communication system for the Los Angeles County Fire Department
 -- The first nuclear power plant conversion to a 1,400 megawatt
 gas-fired combined-cycle cogeneration facility in Midland, Mich.;
 the largest in the United States
 -- The hydrotreating and hydrocracking reactor replacement project
 at Unocal's Los Angeles Refinery in Wilmington, Calif.
 In addition, Fluor Corp.'s Community Involvement Team will receive The Community Service Award for outstanding philanthropic service. Fluor volunteers participated in fundraising, community events and numerous community construction projects during the year. Their most recent project included collection and distribution of 8,000 items of clothing and 2,200 lunches for the Orange County Rescue Mission.
 The awards ceremony concludes the Orange County Engineering Council's celebration of Engineers' Week 1992. Engineers' Week is a national event sponsored by 15 professional engineering organizations to recognize outstanding engineers, focus publicity on the importance of engineering and encourage students to consider technical and engineering careers.
