FLUKE TRANSFERS BOUNDARY-SCAN TEST BUSINESS TO JTAG TECHNOLOGIES B.V.
EVERETT, Wash., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Fluke Corp. (AMEX: FLK; PSE) and JTAG Technologies B.V. jointly announced today that they have executed an agreement whereby Fluke transferred its boundary-scan test business to JTAG Technologies B.V. of Eindhoven, The Netherlands. JTAG Technologies, effective Nov. 1, 1993, assumed responsibility for design, manufacture, marketing, sales and post-sales support of the boundary-scan products for current Fluke customers as well as to new prospects. Fluke retains rights to license the technology for use in its service tools business. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. JTAG Technologies is a newly formed company comprised of the individuals responsible for the development and marketing of boundary-scan related products for Philips' Test and Measurement. This business, including these employees, was acquired by Fluke effective May 1, 1993. In announcing the agreement, Harry Bleeker, JTAG Technologies' marketing director, said, "These products have an excellent reputation and will quickly establish JTAG Technologies in this industry. We are working to develop partnerships with other companies and have already entered into an exclusive contract with Philips Research Labs in The Netherlands where the boundary-scan standardization activities were started in 1985. "Bill Parzybok, chairman and chief executive officer of Fluke said, "We are pleased to enter into an agreement that allows this group of talented individuals to focus on this technology and provides Fluke with an opportunity to benefit from their expertise and innovation through our licensing agreement." Boundary-scan is a new, innovative method of testing digital products. As approved by the IEEE Standard 1149.1, boundary-scan brings drastic reductions in costs and in time-to-market for users in the computer, telecommunications, defense and other industries. JTAG Technologies' business focus is on the new upcoming market for products supporting boundary-scan applications like testing, programming and emulation. JTAG Technologies' products are used in R&D, manufacturing and service in high tech industries throughout the world. The company's headquarters are in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Fluke's business focus is on new and growing markets for compact, professional electronic test tools. Fluke products are used in service, manufacturing test and quality functions in a variety of industries throughout the world. Fluke was founded in 1948, and has over 2,700 employees worldwide.
