 FLOW INTERNATIONAL CORP. PLANS MOVE
TO KENT'S NEW VAN DOREN'S LANDING CORPORATE PARK
KENT, Wash., Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Flow International Corp. (NASDAQ: FLOW) announced plans today to lease a new 140,000-square- foot worldwide headquarters and manufacturing building in Kent, two miles south of its current facility.
The build-to-suit structure will consolidate three separate Flow facilities into one location, the new Van Doren's Landing corporate park, at West Valley Highway and South 228th Street. Construction is scheduled to begin in June, with completion set for December 1992.
"We plan a world-class facility that will optimize our office, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution operations, resulting in a more productive and cost-effective company," Ronald W. Tarrant, Flow president and chief executive officer, said.
The building, which Flow will operate under a 10-year lease, will be built by Birtcher Frank Properties, a development firm with offices in Kent. Birtcher acquired the land for Van Doren's Landing earlier this year from Union Pacific Realty. The Flow building is the first of several planned buildings for the business park.
"We chose the Birtcher project because of the high quality of the development and its proximity to our current facility," Tarrant said. "Also, Birtcher was very innovative in responding to our requirements and meeting our needs."
Flow employs about 300 people, many of whom live in the Kent valley. The company reported a sales increase of 9 percent for the quarter ended Oct. 31, 1991.
Flow International Corp. is the world's leading manufacturer of ultra-high pressure waterjets for industrial cutting, cleaning and HydroMilling(R) services.
