FLOW INTERNATIONAL AWARDED $2.2 MILLION CONTRACT

KENT, Wash., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Flow International Corp. (NASDAQ: FLOW) today announced the signing of a $2.2 million contract between FLOW's construction services subsidiary and Kiewit Construction Co., Lewiston, N.Y. The contract involves concrete removal at a power generation station.
FLOW will utilize its proprietary HydroMilling(R) process to remove deteriorated concrete at the Robert Moses Niagara Power Generation Station in Lewiston. FLOW's unique water filtration system will be used to contain the water and remove debris.
"This contract is significant inasmuch as it provides a strong base of services business for the third and fourth quarters -- quarters which are typically weak for this unit. In view of the fact that first quarter sales were only slightly better than a year ago, a result of the soft economies in Europe and Japan, this contract provides us with an ability to remain optimistic for fiscal 1994," said Ronald W. Tarrant, president and chief executive officer.
The project reinforces the synergy between FLOW and its scaffolding division, Spider Staging. Spider designed the custom staging system and clamps FLOW will use to position HydroMilling equipment on the vertical walls.
"FLOW's focus on developing environmentally sound technology and expanding our capabilities in construction services has enabled the company to seize new business opportunities," said Tarrant. "With funds from the federal government for infrastructure projects now reaching state and local authorities, the construction services market provides FLOW services with excellent growth prospects."
Flow International Corp. is the world's leading manufacturer of ultrahigh-pressure waterjets and related products and services for the industrial cutting, cleaning and construction services markets.
