FLORIDA TURFGRASS ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND TRADE SHOW EXPERIENCED EXCELLENT RESPONSE

 TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Florida Turfgrass Association (FTGA) recently held its 41st Annual Conference and Tradeshow. The show yielded excellent response from trade industry professionals and show participants. Themed this year as "Turfgrass Treasure," attendance estimates were at an all time high with over 2,000 attendees from all areas of the turf industry. Four hundred booths were occupied by 2,005 exhibitors from around the world including the United States, Canada, and England. New products were displayed and the latest techniques and strategies for the turfgrass industry were shared. Included was a full, three-day schedule of over 30 workshops and three in-depth educational sessions, speakers at the tradeshow relate current information on topics such as golf athletic fields, general turf, governmental regulations and environmental policies.
 The conference was held at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Sept. 26-29. This show, touted as "The Largest Warm Season Turf Show" in the Southeast, is reputed to be one of the best mediums for industry professionals to develop leads and interact with competitors keeping up to date on current trends in the respective fields.
 Pro golfer Gary Koch kicked off the show with a ribbon cutting ceremony along with FTGA's new president, Nick Dennis, and Executive Director Bob Yount.
 During the awards luncheon over $113,005 were presented to the FTGA contributed by the Florida Sod Growers Cooperative, Inc., the Florida Golf Course Superintendents Association and various other groups for the FTGA's efforts in the turfgrass research facility, the Envirotron and their statewide turfgrass survey. Yount was also awarded during the show with the annual "wreath of grass," which is awarded to an FTGA member for dedication and hard work throughout the year.
 FTGA is a non-profit association dedicated to education and research, originated in 1952 to increase awareness of the need to preserve environmental resources. FTGA directs its efforts toward preserving one of our most precious resources...turfgrass. The 1994 FTGA tradeshow w ?be held in Fort Lauderdale, Sept. 18-21.
