 FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT RESTORATION PROGRESS UPDATE
 MIAMI, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Florida Power & Light Company by late


this afternoon had restored power to a total of approximately 815,000 residences and businesses from the total of 1.4 million customers who lost service as a result of Hurricane Andrew.
 Approximately 586,000 of FPL's customers remain without electricity this evening. Of that total, about 506,000 are in Dade County. The number in Broward County totaled about 79,000. When FPL completes restoration work late today for approximately 1,000 Naples area customers on the west coast, additional crews can be deployed to Dade and Broward counties.
 In the past 24 hours, FPL has restored about 140,000 customers in Dade County and approximately 53,000 in Broward County. Today's assessments in Dade County showed an even greater number of customers without power than had been identified Tuesday. FPL continues to locate damaged facilities as more areas of Dade County become accessible to its crews.
 Following is a summary by county of customers without power:
 Dade County 506,000 (61 percent)
 Broward County 79,000 (11 percent)
 Collier County (Naples area) 1,000 (.2 percent)
