FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT: THUNDERSTORMS CAUSE SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES
Florida Power & Light Co. (FPL) reported scattered power outages Saturday afternoon and evening as severe thunderstorms swept through portions of its service area. Company officials stressed that the outages would be addressed, but cautioned customers that they may experience longer than normal periods before power is restored due to hurricane restoration activities in Dade and Broward counties.
The exact number of customers affected by the thunderstorms was not known because of FPL's focus on hurricane-related outages, but the company indicated that they were scattered throughout its service territory.
FPL stated that every effort is being made to restore the thunderstorm-related outages as quickly as possible, but urged that customers be patient.
