FLORIDA JUICE, INC., PURCHASES LAKELAND CITRUS PROCESSING FACILITY OF ERLY JUICE INC.
LAKELAND, Fla., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Ronald P. Grigsby, President of Florida Juice, Inc., announced today that the company purchased the Lakeland citrus processing facility of ERLY Juice Inc. The price was not disclosed. The plant, constructed in the late 50's by Kraft Foods, now a subsidiary of Philip Morris, was sold by Kraft to ERLY in 1988. Grigsby noted that the acquisition was a natural for Florida Juice, a company composed of Grigsby family members. The family's citrus groves, Sun-Ray Farms and Southern Farms, together produce over 10,000 acres of citrus. William Grigsby and Sam Grigsby, Sr., brothers who are the senior members of the family, have broad agricultural interests in citrus, grain and cattle in Florida and the Midwest. Ronald P. Grigsby is Sam Grigsby's son. The Lakeland facility processes oranges and grapefruit into juice, concentrate and juice-based beverages, and produces beverages for others under contract. "We will be making every effort to increase the efficiency and quality of the products of the Lakeland plant. We intend to provide Florida citrus growers with additional processing capacity and to offer our employees opportunities based on our expanded sales," Grigsby stated. "As the market has demonstrated, there is always consumer demand for Florida citrus products because they are the best in the world. We intend to bring that philosophy, 'The best in the world' to all of our products," he said. -0- 7/28/93 /CONTACT: Steven B. Gold of Florida Juice, Inc. 813-686-1173/
