Roy Joins Abbey Carpet

Ron Roy has joined Abbey Carpet Co. Inc. as vice president of franchise development for The Floor Club and The Roll Store. Prior to this, Roy was employed by Allied Signal Inc. for 30 years, where he held several key positions in sales and marketing in the carpet fibers division.

The Floor Club, introduced in February 1998, is a membership-only business that services the wholesale trade. With 12 franchises in operation, several more are planned to open shortly. The Roll Store is a warehouse outlet concept that will be launched at Abbey's National Convention in February 2000.

Berry Resigns From The Dixie Group

Glenn Berry, executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Dixie Group, has resigned to pursue private business interests, effective Oct. 8, 1999.

Daniel Frierson, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, said: "We wish Glenn well in his new endeavors and are appreciative for the contributions he made to our company during his tenure. We have begun the search for his replacement and are fortunate to have a strong financial staff, which will allow us time to evaluate and select the best candidate to fill this vacancy."

Sutton Carpet Creates Web Site

Sutton Carpet Mills has created an interactive Web site to promote the company's popular Couture by Sutton collection, a line of high-fashion floor coverings designed for the woman consumer.

The site, which is available at www.couturebysutton.com, will offer an array of options for visitors that includes the latest in style. It will feature an interactive color quiz called True Colors and a floor fashions show, which will allow customers to view any Couture style, in any color, and place the product in various room settings. The site will also give visitors tips on how to clean and maintain their carpet and how to locate their nearest Couture dealer.

Nourison Names Vairo Director of Creative Marketing

Nourison has appointed Ed Vairo, former director of creative marketing for Crown Crafts, to the newly created position of director of creative marketing.

Vairo will assume responsibility for the company's media and promotional activities, coordinate its licensing relationships and work on special projects in product development. He will report directly to Nourison principal Alexander Peykar.

Mannington Residential Names Holm President

Kim Holm has been named president of Mannington Mills' Residential Business Unit, replacing Tony Kelly, who remains president and chief executive of Mannington Mills. Holm joined the firm in 1994 as senior vice president of residential sales and distribution. Before that, he was executive vice president of sales and marketing at Salem Carpet Mills.
