FLOOD RELIEF FUND EXCEEDS $1 MILLION; ADDITIONAL $500,000 TO BE MATCHED DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR

 CHICAGO, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- More than $500,000 has been contributed to the Neighbors in Need Fund, which has been matched dollar for dollar by the Robert R. McCormick Tribune Foundation from its general funds. This means the total donated by the audiences of Tribune's Midwestern businesses since July 22 plus the match exceeds $1 million. The foundation announced today it will match the next $500,000 contributed to the Neighbors in Need Fund.
 The first $1 million will be distributed as follows:
 American Red Cross $600,000
 The Salvation Army $250,000
 Second Harvest National Food Bank Network $150,000
 Tribune's Midwestern businesses -- the Chicago Tribune, WGN-AM, WGN-TV, ChicagoLand Television (CLTV) and the Chicago Cubs -- are working with the McCormick Tribune Foundation to provide financial aid for 1993 flooding victims. These companies continue to ask their audiences to contribute to the Neighbors in Need Fund, a fund of the Robert R. McCormick Tribune Foundation.
 Administrative costs of the fund will be borne by the participating companies and the McCormick Tribune Foundation. Monetary donations may be sent to: Neighbors in Need Fund, P.O. Box 5120, Chicago, IL 60680-5120.
