FLEMING NAMES LAWRENCE TO HEAD FLORIDA SUPERMARKETS

 OKLAHOMA CITY, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Fleming Cos. Inc. (NYSE: FLM) announced today that it has named Donald A. Lawrence president of Fleming Supermarkets of Florida Inc., which will operate 22 Woolley's stores in Southern Florida. He replaces Bill Woolley who has resigned to enter the consulting business.
 In making the announcement, Fleming's chairman and chief executive officer, Dean Werries, said, "We are very grateful for Bill Woolley's fine efforts under difficult circumstances, including a highly competitive environment. We look forward to using his consulting services, initially with the Woolley's stores, and wish him well in his new endeavor."
 Lawrence has more than 23 years of retail experience and was most recently senior vice president, chief operating officer and secretary for a 21-store supermarket chain in Michigan. He holds a BBA degree in food marketing from Michigan State University and has completed the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Executive Program.
 Fleming supplies food, food-related products and retail services to more than 4,800 stores in 36 states, the Caribbean, Mexico and other Central and South American countries.
