FLEISHMAN-HILLARD NAMES WILLIAM DUKE SENIOR COUNSELOR
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Fleishman-Hillard, Inc. (FH) has appointed William E. Duke as senior counselor, a new position based in the Los Angeles office, it was announced by Jerry Epstein, FH executive vice president and general manager, Los Angeles.
Duke was until recently manager of public affairs for Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) where he supervised public affairs counseling, opinion research and corporate advertising as well as running an in- house public relations agency for the corporation.
"Bill Duke brings us a whole dimension of corporate, environmental and public affairs expertise," Epstein said. "He is known across the country as one of the leaders in our profession, and we plan to bring Bill into many of our client relationships, as well as benefiting from his experience as we pursue new business."
Epstein noted that this move, added to the recent appointment of Doug Dowie as senior vice president, corporate and investor relations, positions the Los Angeles office very strongly in the public affairs arena.
"With an office in Sacramento, a huge lobbying and public affairs capability in Washington, D.C., and a growing environmental affairs practice nationally, Fleishman-Hillard is attracting a lot of interest from the public and private sectors. Bill Duke and Doug Dowie are going to add a lot to the services we can offer corporations and public entities locally, regionally and nationally," Epstein said.
Duke was ARCO's first director of federal government relations, and in Los Angeles was a leader in some of the company's most significant community and marketing milestones, including the Silver Anvil-winning Drive for Conservation and the introductions of EC-1 and EC-Premium gasolines.
Before joining ARCO, Duke was a journalist, broadcaster, U.S. Senate and campaign aide and the first director of public affairs for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. He has been elected to the College of Fellows of the Public Relations Society of America.
With 50 employees, Fleishman-Hillard/LA is in the top five public relations agencies in Los Angeles, and one of the leading firms internationally, and for the last three years, the firm has been rated either No. 1 or No. 2 by the public relations magazine "Inside P.R."
