FLEET BANK DONATION USED TO SPONSOR PINE STREET INN THANKSGIVING MEAL
BOSTON, Nov. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pine Street Inn is in receipt of a significant donation from Fleet Bank of Massachusetts which will be used to sponsor this year's Thanksgiving meal. Each year The Pine Street Inn serves nearly 3,000 meals on Thanksgiving Day to homeless men and women.
"During this time of giving thanks," said Ralph Hughes, acting executive director at Pine Street, "we are especially grateful to Fleet Bank for their generosity and compassion for our guests. Their donation will certainly go a long way in helping us provide as festive a Thanksgiving day meal as possible."
"We are pleased that we can help those who have fallen on hard times by sponsoring this holiday meal at Pine Street," said Leo R. Breitman, Fleet president and CEO. "This sponsorship is one way that Fleet Bank can make a difference by bringing some happiness into the lives of homeless men and women at this time of year."
In response to an increased demand for services, the Pine Street Inn has expanded its operations to include four emergency shelters, a transitional house for women and children, job training and literacy programs, in house nursing clinics, an outreach/rescue van and a permanent housing program for formerly homeless men and women. While provision of emergency shelter for homeless men and women is the focal point, Pine Street Inn's goal is to provide a continuum of care so that its guests can move beyond the shelter environment to a better quality of life.
