FLAG'S THE WAY TO DO IT; Traders battle recession.
Businesses throughout the town are displaying flags depicting the Welsh Dragon, the Cross of St David outside their shop fronts.
Each trader donated pounds 15 to the cost of the flags, with other funding from Gwynedd and Porthmadog councils, and the town's Chamber of Trade.
Chamber spokesman Louis Naudi of the Royal Sportsman Hotel where a reception to discuss the recession was held, said: "We have published a new town guide, and an enhanced website.
"We want to advertise Porthmadog as a harbour town to tempt more visitors to make it their destination of choice as the 'Gateway to Snowdonia and Lln'."
He said the flags had brightened up the town and been welcomed by locals.
