FITNESS FLASH.

FROM boosting health and self-esteem to warding off loneliness, the wellbeing benefits of having a hobby are endless.

According to AXA Insurance, which surveyed more than 2,000 people, 95% have a hobby they dedicate the equivalent of one working day a week to.

A quarter (26%) give more time to hobbies than socialising, while 8% admit they spend more on their hobby than with their partner.

Baking is a popular hobby Reading came out as the nation's most popular hobby, with baking, gardening, running and board games/ puzzles also in the top five.

Most (70%) said they practice hobbies for fun while 30% do it for health and fitness benefits, 25% to 'switch off' from work, and 17% to meet new people.
