FITCH ADDS BOND INSURERS TO ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE -- FITCH FINANCIAL WIRE --

NEW YORK, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Fitch has added bond insurers to its electronic surveillance on Bloomberg. Bond insurers backed nearly 40% of all long-term new issues that came to market in the first half of 1993. More than one-fourth of all outstanding issues now carry insurance.
Financial guarantors have become increasingly active in providing credit enhancement for structured finance transactions as well. As such, access to timely information on bond insurers' financial strength and performance is of paramount importance to investors in insured bonds.
Fitch's Bond Insurers' Surveillance provides more than a dozen financial indicators for the 10 monoline insurers and reinsurers, as well as industry totals. Key balance sheet and income statement data and ratios are shown for the most recent year-to-date periods, plus the previous four years. Fitch will update the screens quarterly as financial information is made available by the companies.
Other Fitch surveillance includes information on asset-backed and mortgage-backed securities, finance companies, retail companies, and the health care sector. Type "FTC", then <GO> to access Fitch's Surveillance on Bloomberg. Bond Insurers' Surveillance is option Number 19. For a specific bond insurer, select the page number of the company desired, and hit <PAGE>.
