FISHY RIVERS; UK border guards swoop on star while she films on boat.
THE joke was on comedian Joan Rivers when she was mistaken for an immigrant illegally entering the UK.
Four border guards swooped on the loudmouth US star as she disembarked from a fishing boat after filming her talk show.
They quizzed Ms Rivers, daughter Melissa and her TV crew for several minutes until they realised who she was. The mix-up came after UK Border Agency officers were alerted to a suspicious group at a notorious drop-off point for illegal immigrants.
Ms Rivers, 79, took her brief detention in good humour however.
She said: "Even though we were innocent I am so sorry they didn't arrest us. I love Englishmen and they were very cute!" The TV star has been filming an episode of Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best! on a fishing boat in the Swale Estuary near Faversham, Kent.
UKBA guards in a large rigid inflatable boat swooped on her last month. The talk show host had been invited to film in the area by her friend and fellow New Yorker, the Countess Sondes, owner of the 6,900-acre Lees Court Estate, which includes part of the estuary.
Lady Sondes said: "It was a great comfort to know the Border Agency acted in an efficient and friendly manner." The Estate said: "The Agency had received a tip-off regarding a suspicious group of people disembarking from two fishing trawlers."
