FISHERIES.

RIVERDANE Chub have been active and providing good fishing. Shoals are gathering in the fast water runs over gravel and are best tackled with a stick float and large baits -wasp grub, double maggot or caster. Holmes Chapel, Swettenham and Croxton Lane are best.

RIVERDEE Dace and chub showing strongly in the higher reaches from Bangor downstream to Holt.

RIVER RIBBLE Fading evening light is proving to be the best time for barb el and quality roach on the middle sections from Ribchester to Balderstones.

RIVERWEAVER Steady catch returns with a mixture of roach,bream and carp. Bream best in Northwich Town, while carp seem plentiful on Winsford marina and the black board above Hunt's Locknear Northwich. BRIDGEWATER CANAL Bream fishing has improved but skimmers and roach are the mainstay and the hot spots are Lymm Village, Agden Bridge and Grappenhall. There are plenty of pike about. Fishing has been good on the Runcorn Town sections.

LEEDS-LIVERPOOLCANAL Roach fishing remains consistent with quality fish taking punch bread and hempseed. SANKEY-ST HELENS CANAL Afternoon sessions have been best in Sankey Valley and at Sankey Bridges when tench seem willing to take caster or bread.

TRENT & MERSEY CANAL Roach responding well to punch bread and ``squatt and slop'' around Northwich with some stray perch wandering into feeding ground.

BURTON MERE, South Wirral Match catches of small carp and barb el up to 75lb from Beech Pool and carp to 18lb from the main mere sums up the quality sport available at the moment.

CARR MILL DAM,St Helens Skimmer and bream to 2lb gathering around the sunshine pegs (pegs 80-89) and are best caught swim ground bait swim feeders and maggot at about 40 yards. Pole anglers taking roach to 12 ounces.

CARR SIDE FARM, Ince Blundell Fair fishing with small roach and perch being caught on all four ponds both on maggot and caster. Small red worms doing well for perch on the Football Pit.

HARTHILL,Broxton Steady sport with prime roach on float fished red maggot and caster and carp to 15lb on specialist baits.

LIVERPOOLPARK LAKES Lots of perch appearing in catches at Greenbank Park but Princes is the best pick with lots of skimmers and bream to 3lb for early anglers. LYMM DAM Dam end of the lake is best for small roach and skimmers with pole and waggler the most reliable method. Caster, maggot and bread all catching their share of fish.

MEADOW VIEW,Lymm Pole fished worm and caster are catching a lot of carp up to 3lb on all three lakes.

WIRRAL PARK LAKES Has been a fair week on Birkenhead Lower Park Lake with skimmers, carp and roach all feeding.
