FISHER AUDIO/VIDEO OFFERS FIRST CAMCORDER WITH COLOR MONITOR/REMOTE CONTROLLER

CHATSWORTH, Calif., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Fisher Audio/Video offers new freedom in videomaking, unveiling the first 8-mm camcorder (1.7 pounds) to offer a combination color monitor/remote controller with a built-in speaker. Available in September, the FVC-30 ($999.99 SRP), with 10:1 zoom, includes a conventional eyepiece, but adds the superior quality of a 2.2-inch LCD color monitor/remote controller that can be connected to the hot shoe or operated from an 8.2-foot remote cable.
"The camcorder marketplace has suffered from camcorders that are too difficult to use," Fisher Vice President of Marketing Michael Shoemaker said. "Fisher's color monitor/remote controller offers something better for first-time camcorder users and veteran videomakers: convenient, full-color viewing and easy editing features."
Holding a camcorder up to the eye can limit and fatigue videomakers searching for the right shooting angle. With the FVC-30, shooting is comfortable at virtually any angle.
To enjoy videotaped footage immediately after recording, the monitor/remote controller allows videos to be viewed in full color with sound. The remote includes a built-in stand and monitor hood.
To improve your golf swing or dance steps, the color monitor/remote controller can help put you in the picture. An optional auto pan/tilt head ($249.95 SRP) pans and tilts the camcorder to follow the action, automatically or controlled by the remote controller. All major functions of the camcorder can be monitored and controlled with the remote, including tape playback and camcorder zoom.
A special remote editing system even gives amateurs the ability to produce better videos, allowing up to 5 taped segments to be marked for dubbing with a VCR. Just use the remote controller to view and mark start- and end-points of up to 5 taped sections, press the run button, and the remote controller automatically dubs from the camcorder to a connected VCR. The remote includes infrared codes for all major VCRs.
Using Fuzzy Logic technology, the FVC-30 automatically adjusts focusing, iris and white balance, imitating human thinking processes for optimal results. The automatic white balance corrects color for different lighting conditions by analyzing picture information from 64 separate image areas. Manual focusing is also possible with the unit.
A high-speed (up to 1/10,000 sec.) electronic shutter dial on the outside of the camcorder offers 7 modes, including Automatic, Sports, Twilight, Low-Light, Auto High-Speed, Flickerless (for incandescent lighting), and Close-Up. The FVC-30 records images in lighting as low as 1 lux.
The included AC adapter charges new high-capacity nickel-metal hydride or conventional NiCd batteries, and offers a refresh function to recharge batteries for longer life.
