FIRSTFED BANCSHARES, INC. DECLARES SPECIAL CASH DIVIDEND

 DES PLAINES, Ill., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- FirstFed Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFDP) the holding company for First Federal Bank for Savings, Des Plaines, announced today that its board of directors on Nov. 8, 1993 declared a special cash dividend of $1.00 per share, to be paid on Dec. 6, 1993 to shareholders of record on Nov. 22, 1993.
 Donald J. Cameron, chairman and chief executive officer of FirstFed Bancshares commented, "The board's declaration of this dividend was made after due deliberation, considering the interests of our shareholders while furthering our declared intention of employing our strong capital position in extending our market area."
 First Federal Bank for Savings is a federally chartered stock savings bank. The Savings Bank is a community-oriented savings bank offering traditional deposit and mortgage loan products. It operates its office at 749 Lee Street, Des Plaines.
