 FIRST SECURITY IS UTAH'S LEADING CONSUMER LENDER
 SALT LAKE CITY, July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- With loans to consumers


totaling $1.20 billion ($1,203,965,000) at year-end 1991, First Security Bank was the largest lender to consumers in the State of Utah. Data for the top 300 United States banks in consumer lending were published recently in "American Banker," the industry's trade publication. The data were based on banks' federal regulatory reports of condition for Dec. 31, 1991 and 1990.
 First Security's consumer loans exceeded those of Utah's next largest commercial bank lender by $395.67 million or by 49.0 percent.
 Nationally, First Security Bank of Utah ranked 119th among the top 300 United States banks. Bank of America was the largest consumer lender with loans outstanding at Dec. 31, 1991, of $36.15 billion. Affiliated Bank of Franklin Park, Ill., placed 300th with consumer loans totaling $366 million.
 Of First Security Bank's total consumer loans, $522.70 million or 43.4 percent were one-to-four family mortgage units and $63.47 million or 5.3 percent were home equity loans. Scott Nelson, First Security Bank of Utah's chairman and chief executive said, "First Security firmly believes that meeting the borrowing needs of homeowners continues to be one of the most important services a bank can provide."
 The "American Banker" survey also reported that First Security Bank of Idaho ranked 132nd nationally in consumer lending and was the largest consumer lender in Idaho with consumer loans outstanding totaling $1.07 billion at Dec. 31, 1991. First Security Bank of Idaho is the second largest bank in Idaho with assets totaling $2.67 billion at year-end 1991.
