FIRST NATIONAL BANK IN MACOMB COUNTY PIONEERS SUNDAY BANKING
 IN 2 BRANCHES
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- First National Bank in Macomb County announced today that it will offer Sunday banking at two branch offices starting April 26.
This marks the first time a bank in metropolitan Detroit has offered customers Sunday banking in branch lobbies.
"We believe that today's busy lifestyles have made it difficult for people to come to the bank to open an account, or close on a loan, or discuss financial goals," said Harold W. Allmacher, president and CEO. "We think Sunday banking will enable our customers to take care of financial needs face to face with a highly trained FNB banking professional."
Sunday banking will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First National Bank's Shelby and Hall Road offices. The Shelby Branch is at 13555 23 Mile Road, at Schoenherr, Shelby Township. The Hall Road Branch is at 18800 Hall Road, at Romeo Plank, Clinton Township.
"Our staff members -- all of whom volunteered to work on Sundays -- will be available to open accounts, close already-approved loans and accept loan applications," Allmacher explained. "We'll be serving coffee and doughnuts too."
Teller services will not be available on Sundays.
"At First National Bank, there's no such thing as 'bankers' hours,'" Allmacher said. "We're here to serve customers -- when it's most convenient for them to be served."
Sunday banking is the latest in a series of moves by the bank to promote convenience, following a customer survey conducted in 1991. As a result of the survey, last fall the bank extended lobby service until 7 p.m. on Thursdays and 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
First National Bank in Macomb County, founded in 1926, has 16 branch offices in Macomb County. At March 31, it had assets of $433 million. It is a subsidiary of First National Bank Corp. (NASDAQ-NMS: MTCL), also headquartered in Clinton Township.
