 FIRST INTERSTATE BANK OF CALIFORNIA ANNOUNCES
 EMERGENCY LOAN PROGRAM FOR EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS
 LOS ANGELES, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- First Interstate Bank of California announced today a special program to provide temporary relief and financial assistance to individuals and families whose homes and businesses have been adversely affected by the recent earthquakes.
 The program will provide the following benefits to homeowners, mobile homeowners and business owners:
 -- 90-day payment deferrals will be available on all existing First Interstate consumer loans, auto loans, credit cards and lines of credit;
 -- Certificate of Deposit holders may redeem principal and earned interest on First Interstate Bank Certificates of Deposit without penalty for early withdrawal;
 -- The bank will participate in Small Business Administration and State of California loan programs targeted to businesses and communities around the state which suffered damage, and for homeowners to use for home repairs or the financing of personal property losses.
 "We have great sympathy for individuals and families who have been displaced or affected by damage suffered during the earthquakes and First Interstate wants to do everything we can to help them get through this trying period," said Bruce G. Willison, chairman and chief executive officer of First Interstate Bank.
