FIRST HARRISBURG BANCOR ELECTS NEW DIRECTOR, RE-ELECTS COMPANY PRESIDENT
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Because the chairman of the board of First Harrisburg Bancor, Inc. (NASDQ: FFHP) had retired, Bruce S. Isaacman was introduced as the new chairman-elect.
The stockholders elected a new director and re-elected the company president today during the company's annual meeting held in Harrisburg. Board membership remains unchanged at six members.
Sydney D. Caplan, a Harrisburg retailer, recently retired as board chairman after serving more than two decades as a board member of First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Harrisburg, a predecessor company and principal subsidiary to FFHP. Caplan became chairman of First Federal's board in 1977, continuing in that capacity through the formation of First Harrisburg Bancor.
Isaacman, a certified public accountant and a company director since 1977, will succeed Caplan as chairman of the board at the next board meeting.
John Butler Davis, AIA, a Harrisburg area architect, was elected to serve a three-year term.
The stockholders re-elected president and director Robert H. Trewhella. Trewhella has served in his present capacity since 1982. He will serve a three-year term as a director.
The stockholders ratified the appointment of KPMG Peat Marwick as the company's independent auditors.
First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Harrisburg, with assets of $233 million, is the principal subsidiary of First Harrisburg Bancor. First Federal is a Pennsylvania Stock Savings Association with five offices in the Harrisburg area, one in Hershey and one in Millersburg. An eighth office in Susquehanna Township will open early this summer.
FFHP's corporate roots began February 1917 as Penn State Building and Loan Association. As First Federal it became Harrisburg's first federally chartered savings and loan in 1943. Caplan's uncle, Philip H. Caplan, was the first president.
