FIRST FLORIDA NAMES WARD J. CURTIS CHIEF TRUST AND INVESTMENTS OFFICER
 TAMPA, Fla, March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- First Florida Banks, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: FFBK) announced today that Ward J. Curtis has been named Chief Trust and Investments Officer. In his new position he will be responsible for the delivery of investment management, advisory and fiduciary services. First Florida currently has 16 trust offices located in West, Southwest and Central Florida.
 Curtis, a former Tampa Bay area banker, comes to First Florida from NationsBank where he had recently been named manager of the Southeast Region for Personal Trust Services in Atlanta. Prior to the merger of NCNB and C&S Sovran, Curtis served as president of the C&S Florida Trust Company and as executive vice president of Landmark Union Trust in St. Petersburg, Fla. prior to its acquisition by C&S.

 Curtis is a banking veteran of 16 years and is a native of Melbourne, Fla. Additional career experience includes two years as controller with a consulting firm and one year as a trust examiner with the Officer of the Comptroller of the Currency. He is a graduate of the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Fla. where he received his bachelor's degree in finance and a master's degree in business administration.
 First Florida Banks, Inc. is a Tampa, Fla.-based bank holding company with $5.8 billion in assets at Dec. 31, 1991, and operates 144 banking offices along Florida's West Coast from Pensacola to Naples/Marco Island, and throughout the Central Florida area to the Atlantic Coast.
