FIRST COMMONWEALTH STOCK TO SPLIT 2 FOR 1

INDIANA, Pa., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- E. James Trimarchi, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of First Commonwealth Financial Corporation (NYSE: FCF) today announced that the Board of Directors of the Corporation has approved a 2-for-1 stock split effected in the form of a 100% stock dividend.
Shareholders of record at the close of business January 28, 1994 will receive one additional share for every share held. The additional shares will be distributed on February 10, 1994.
In commenting on the Board's action, Mr. Trimarchi noted, "This stock split follows an 8% dividend increase approved in December 1993. It is additional recognition by the Board of the sound, profitable performance of the Corporation over the last eleven years as well as acknowledgment of the continued market appreciation of our stock price. With the split, First Commonwealth will issue an additional 9.3 million shares, thereby increasing availability and resulting in a less costly market price. This combination should enhance the value of our stock to present shareholders while making our shares more affordable to prospective new shareholders."
