 FIRST ANNUAL WORLD ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CONGRESS
 TO TAKE PLACE SEPT. 17-20
 The first annual World Economic Development Congress, sponsored by CNN, will take place in Washington, Sept. 17-20 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, immediately preceding the IMF/World Bank meetings.
 Keynoters include: The Rt. Hon. Baroness Margaret Thatcher, O.M., F.R.S.; Ibrahim Babangida, president of Nigeria; Vaclav Klaus, prime minister of the Czech Republic; Janez Drnovsek, prime minister of the Republic of Slovenia; Henry Kissinger, chairman, Kissinger Associates, Inc.; John D. Macomber, president and chairman, Export- Import Bank of the U.S.; Nicholas Brady, secretary of the Treasury; and Jack Kemp, secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
 Five Congress Tracks:
 -- The CEO Summit. An invitation-only meeting for more than 200 CEOs of the world's largest multinational corporations. Chaired by Dwayne Andreas, CEO, Archer Daniels Midland Company.
 -- The Economic Policy and Marketing Summit. Internal economic conditions required to attract investment and develop and market a country's strategic advantages. Chaired by Barber Conable, former president, The World Bank.
 -- The Global Summit for Institutional Investors. Industry and country-specific investment opportunities, with an emphasis on "emerging markets." Chaired by George Soros, president, The Soros Foundations.
 -- The Large Scale Infrastructure Project Summit. Selling, financing and contracting for major telecommunications, engineering, construction and manufacturing projects. Chaired by Peter Lehrer, vice chairman, Bovis Limited.
 -- The Hypergrowth Summit. The phenomenon of fastest growing corporations and their global expansion. Chaired by James Jones, chairman, The American Stock Exchange.
 Fifteen Executive Workshops:
 -- Challenges and opportunities in specific markets and industries.
 Confirmed audience and speakers:
 -- 300 speakers; 200 CEOs from multinational firms with over $400 million in sales; 200 additional CEOs from the fastest growing companies in the world; 30 ministers of finance; 40 ambassadors; over 90 countries and 800 corporations represented.

 -- Executive Workshops. These run concurrently for three hours each. Subjects: Contracting with the World Bank, UN and AID Projects; Hazardous Waste Management; Education, Training and Human Resources Enhancement; Media, Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations Services in Developing Countries; Technology Transfer -- Attracting and Nurturing High-Tech Industries.
 1:30-4:30 p.m.
 -- Workshops continue. Subjects: Agribusiness; Oil and Gas Development; Biotechnology as an Emerging International Industry; What Do You Shop For in a Washington Connection?; Strategic Planning for Travel and Tourism; and Trade Facilitation.

 News Media Center
 The News Media Center will be located in the Exhibition Hall on level 1B of the Omni Shoreham Hotel, 2500 Calvert St. N.W., Washington. The telephone number is 202-232-8151.
 Registration
 News media registration will open at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17. The registration desk will be located in the News Media Center. Media should bring a photo ID. For registration on Wednesday, Sept. 16, and prior to 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, proceed to the Directors Room on the main level of the Omni Shoreham.
 Badges
 It is mandatory to wear a World Economic Development Congress Press Badge for access to all events. Badges will be available at the registration desk in the News Media Center.
 Congress Events
 All Congress events are open to the press with the exception of the CEO Summit.
 CEO Summit
 The CEO Summit is not open to the press; however, there will be a live video feed into the News Media Center, and press will be able to communicate with participants via the messaging system provided by Digital, which will have a terminal in the News Media Center.
 Press Briefings
 Press Briefings will take place Sept. 18 & 19 after the last session in the Empire Room on level 1B.
 Press Luncheon
 There will be a press luncheon and briefing hosted by Sprint on Friday, Sept. 18, at 11:30 a.m. in the Executive Room on the main level of the Omni Shoreham.
