FIRST ANNUAL GENESIS AWARDS TO BE PRESENTED AT INTEROP 92(R) SPRING
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Interop Inc. today announced the call for participation for the first annual Genesis Awards to be presented at the INTEROP 92 Spring Conference and Exhibition in Washington, D.C., May 18-22, 1992.
The Genesis Awards will recognize outstanding contributions of lasting and major significance to the computing and communications industries in two categories:
-- Genesis Award for Commercial Excellence
This award is presented to an individual that is responsible for creating a new market niche -- creating a new segment of a computer or communications-related industry or by changing the competitive structure of, revolutionizing or redefining an existing segment. The overall growth of the particular industry, and the contribution to society are measures of the success of that innovation.
-- Genesis Award for Research and Development
This award is presented to an individual who has made an outstanding and fundamental contribution in research or applied engineering that serves as a watershed in internetworking technology or advances the state of the art in communications among disparate computers and other network systems. This person has contributed to the technology of internetworking and interoperability and enhanced the development of open systems solutions.
The Genesis Awards will be presented to the recipients along with a $5,000 scholarship to the Graduate School of Business and Graduate Engineering School of their choice.
Nominations will be accepted through Feb. 27, 1992 and may be submitted to Interop Inc. by fax, mail, or phone. To obtain a nomination form, call 415-962-2537 or send a fax to 415-949-1779.
