 FIRST AMERICAN CORPORATION INCREASES OFFERING TO 1.75
 MILLION SHARES OF COMMON STOCK AT $21.25 PER SHARE
 NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- First American Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: FATN) announced today that it is offering to sell 1.75 million shares of common stock, an increase of 250,000 over the initial announcement on July 17, 1992, at $21.25 per share.
 The size of the offering was increased from 1.5 million shares to 1.75 million shares due to additional demand. First American has also granted the underwriters an option to purchase up to 262,500 additional shares of common stock to cover over-allotments. The closing is scheduled for Sept. 30, 1992.
 "We are very pleased with the interest shown by the investment community in First American and the resulting opportunity to sell 250,000 additional shares," said Dennis C. Bottorff, president and CEO.
 Merrill Lynch & Co. and J.C. Bradford & Co. are acting as managing underwriters for the offering.
 First American will use the net proceeds, for general corporate purposes, including the funding of investments in or advances to First American National Bank and possible future expansion of operations in its existing market areas. The company has no present understanding or agreement with respect to any particular acquisition.
 First American Corporation is a bank holding company headquartered in Nashville, Tenn. Its principal subsidiary is First American National Bank, the second-largest bank in Tennessee. First American's stock is traded in the over-the-counter securities market and is quoted on the NASDAQ National Market List under the symbol FATN.
