FIND OUT ALL THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT 'THE CRYING GAME,' AVAILABLE FROM LIVE HOME VIDEO ON JULY 7

Nominated for Six Academy Awards, Dramatic Thriller
 Won for `Best Original Screenplay'
VAN NUYS, Calif., June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- On July 7, everyone will be able to find out all there is to know about "The Crying Game," the acclaimed dramatic thriller being released by LIVE Home Video. Listed as one of the best films of the year by dozens of critics across the country, "The Crying Game" also generated tremendous popular attention for the unexpected twist and political intrigue contained within its storyline.
Written and directed by Neil Jordan ("Mona Lisa"), "The Crying Game" stars Forest Whitaker and Oscar nominees Stephen Rea, Miranda Richardson and Jaye Davidson. The film won this year's Academy Award for "Best Original Screenplay."
The roles one plays, the beliefs one lives by, those appearances that one thinks constitutes one's identity -- nationality, race, color and sex -- are all stripped away, leaving the person at his or her most basic but triumphant state in "The Crying Game."
A British soldier (Whitaker) is held hostage in the killing fields of Northern Ireland. In this tense, though intimate, setting, an unlikely relationship develops between the soldier and his doomed captor, an I.R.A. conspirator named Fergus (Rea).
The repercussions of the ill-fated friendship leads Fergus on a dangerous run from the confederates and on a mission to carry out the dying man's last wishes to find his beautiful hairdresser/night club singer girlfriend, Dil.
As Fergus plunges into London's bizarre and vibrant underworld, he not only finds Dil but is taken over by passion. In the middle of their romantic whirl, Fergus' past catches up with him, and the I.R.A. is at his doorstep wanting revenge.
Layer after layer of intrigue and deception is torn away leaving Fergus and Dil with a perfectly aware relationship in a far-from-perfect world.
