CLEVELAND, Aug. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Finast Supermarkets today

announced that it has raised more than $130,000 in its second Our Kids Golf Tournament. The first tournament netted $75,000. More than 200 golfers participated in the July 27 event at the Medina Country Club. Funds from the event will be shared equally by four very worthy organizations: Shoes for Kids, The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Easter Seal Society and Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.
Noted William Holsworth, president of the Ohio Division of First National Supermarkets, "I commend the generosity and enthusiasm of the golfers who made the Our Kids Golf Tournament a success. Thousands of children will benefit from our event. It's a privilege to provide children with a small measure of hope."
Major contributors for the Our Kids Golf Tournament include the Pepsi Cola Bottlers, Reiter Dairy, Swift-Eckrich Meat Company, Pabst Brewing Company, Dinnerbell Meats, Tyson Chicken and the Bernie Kosar Charitable Trust. Hundreds of other individuals and companies contributed to the event, enabling the original fund raising goal to be exceeded by 20 percent.
Shoes For Kids provides thousands of Greater Cleveland children with shoes and warm winter clothing so that they might attend school and take part in other events.
The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation was founded in 1970 by a group of parents with diabetic children. The foundation's primary objective is to prevent and cure diabetes.
The Easter Seal Society, founded in Lorain County in 1919, provides direct service to children with disabilities to promote maximum independence.
Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital is the principal pediatric referral center for Ohio and bordering states. Rainbow treats more than 80,000 children annually, regardless of their ability to pay.
