FINAST ANNOUNCES CANDLES AGAINST HUNGER PROGRAM

MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio, Nov. 25 ~PRNewswire~ -- The Ohio Division of Finast Supermarkets today announced the CANDLES AGAINST HUNGER program, a unique holiday program designed to raise funds for soup kitchens and food pantries in 8 counties in Northeastern Ohio.
Noted William Holsworth, president of the Ohio Division of Finast Supermarkets, "Our goal is to raise thousands of dollars between Thanksgiving and the end of December. We have a great tradition of helping others in need in Northeastern Ohio, especially when times are difficult. With the CANDLES AGAINST HUNGER program, one dollar may provide a meal for an elderly person, a small child, an expectant mother, or a person who is out of work. Our program helps define us as a community who cares."
In the CANDLES AGAINST HUNGER program a Christmas Tree is displayed in every Finast Supermarket. Customers contribute $1.00 and receive a paper candle ornament from cashiers. Customers are invited to write their name on the candle or the name of an organization in the space provided and hang it on the tree in front of checkout. All money raised for the CANDLES AGAINST HUNGER program is given to the Greater Cleveland Committee on Hunger.
The Greater Cleveland Committee on Hunger distributes food to hunger organizations in eight counties through the Harvest For Hunger program. All money raised in each of the eight counties stays in the same county.
The Ohio Division of Finast Supermarkets operates 36 supermarkets in Northeastern Ohio.
